Victoria Stoiciu criticizes PSD for adopting the language of AUR in the motion of censure: "In history, no proximity to extremists is ever just a punctual matter or a simple temporary tool."

Senator Victoria Stoiciu, who resigned on Tuesday from PSD, against the backdrop of the social democrats' alliance with AUR to initiate a censorship motion, criticized, in an editorial published on HotNews, the language adopted by the party she left, as well as the alliance with the "extremists".

Stoiciu refers to political history, emphasizing that alliances with extremists are never mere temporary instruments, but can have serious consequences, as has happened in the past. She argued her position by citing the non-aggression pact between the National Peasant Party and the Legionnaires in 1937 and the compromise made between the Italian liberals and Mussolini's fascists in 1921. She believes that the PSD-AUR pact legitimizes extremist ideas and that this will negatively affect democracy.

"In 1937, before the elections, the National Peasant Party (PNȚ) concluded a so-called electoral non-aggression pact with Corneliu Zelea Codreanu, the leader of the party 'Everything for the Country'. A simple agreement not to attack each other during the campaign. Only that the effect was different. By signing it, Maniu gave the Legionnaires what they could not achieve on their own: legitimacy. Codreanu's party achieved a fabulous result, almost five times greater than in the 1932 elections. PNȚ lost the elections. The pact did not save democracy; it hastened its end," notes the senator.

Stoiciu states that democracy dies from small concessions, not from a single blow.

At the same time, the senator criticizes the language used in the censorship motion, saying that PSD adopts AUR's vocabulary.

 "Transnational bureaucracy", "foreign model imposed", "Romania treated as a colony", "excessively progressive ideology". This is AUR's vocabulary — now legitimized by PSD's signature. And who do you think benefits? PSD is now clearing the slope on which AUR will ski tomorrow, shouting," Stoiciu further notes.
