Petrișor Peiu, leader of the AUR senators, categorically ruled out an alliance or coalition with the PSD, saying that the party would cooperate selectively with all political parties. He made the statement to Digi24 amid parliamentary initiatives concerning the state of public finances and the government’s activity.
“Under no circumstances will we have an alliance- or coalition-type cooperation with the PSD,” Peiu said. He specified that AUR has no political cooperation with the Social Democrats and that he does not expect PSD ministers to change the way the Executive operates or the policies adopted so far.
The leader of the AUR senators explained that, in the Senate, the party is preparing an initiative addressed to the Ministry of Finance. It seeks to clarify data on the budget deficit, given that the government mainly publishes the deficit calculated using the cash method, not the deficit determined according to the European accounting system.
Peiu argued that the release of Eurostat data fueled suspicions that delayed payments existed within the system. He announced that AUR would undertake further initiatives by next week, but without the PSD. According to him, the discussions that led to the parliamentary actions were public and did not take place behind closed doors.
