Siegfried Mureșan accuses PSD and AUR of politically exploiting the violent protest in Victory Square

Vice President of the European Parliament Siegfried Mureșan says that Monday’s events in Victory Square represent further evidence of the consolidation of a political alliance between PSD and AUR. The liberal politician claims that the two parties are politically exploiting the protest, which deteriorated and turned violent.

In a public message, Mureșan accused PSD and AUR of using the demonstration in a populist and coordinated manner. “The way AUR and PSD are politically exploiting the protest in Victory Square is another example that the anti-European PSD-AUR alliance is becoming stronger,” the MEP said.

He also cited previous cooperation between the two parties. According to Mureșan, PSD and AUR jointly contributed to bringing down the government and subsequently voted on laws in Parliament. In his view, their simultaneous use of the violent protest in political discourse confirms the growing closeness between the parties.

The liberal politician’s statements came after the incidents in Victory Square, where Monday’s protest deteriorated. Claims regarding the existence of a PSD-AUR alliance represent Siegfried Mureșan’s political position.
