The Political Committee of USR is meeting on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. to decide whether the party's lawmakers will vote to support the investiture of the Luca Niculescu Government. The meeting will take place online, the formation's spokesperson, Cristian Seidler, told AGERPRES.
The news is that USR President Dominic Fritz will propose that the party not vote for the investiture of the new cabinet. The final decision will belong to the Political Committee, the body that determines the formation's position regarding the vote in Parliament.
Dominic Fritz said that Romania needs a government and stability, but rejected the idea that this argument should be used to return to an executive branch that he considers associated with wastefulness and the protection of PSD privileges.
The USR leader argued that the formation cannot ask Romanians to accept “any government, at any cost,” given that people are concerned about prices, loan payments, and job security. He accused PSD of trying to return to ministries with large budgets through “front men,” in order to block reforms and control contracts and state-owned companies.
