The leader of UDMR reiterated on Friday that the Union wishes to restore the coalition with PSD, PNL, and USR, but emphasized that it does not rule out the possibility of going into opposition. After the meeting of the Union's Representatives Council in Cluj-Napoca, Hunor stated that UDMR wants to be part of a government capable of solving the country's problems. He mentioned that, although the first option is to restore the coalition, he cannot promise that UDMR will participate in the government in 2026.

If a majority cannot be formed, UDMR could remain in opposition, considering that this could be an opportunity for construction. Hunor ruled out the option of a technocratic government, stating that restoring the coalition is the only desired option. Consultations for forming the new Government will begin next week, with discussions among parliamentary parties.
