The Romanian government has approved a Memorandum that allows the Administration of the Environmental Fund (AFM) to take over and finance the suspended projects from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), with a total value of over 3.7 billion lei. These projects are essential for communities and include the expansion of water and sewage systems, wastewater collection, support for vulnerable populations, and the development of recycling infrastructure.
The measure is crucial for completing vital works and avoiding financial penalties from the European Union, considering the infringement procedures related to wastewater quality and recycling targets. Florin Bănică, the president of AFM, emphasized the institution's commitment to ensuring the continuity of these projects, highlighting the importance of environmental protection and sustainable development.
