The Minister of Finance, Alexandru Nazare, stated that it is not appropriate to increase the minimum wage at this time, considering that it has risen by 75% from 2021 to the present, despite an economic downturn. Nazare emphasized the importance of coordinating between economic dynamics and minimum wage increases, mentioning that the minimum wage has increased from 2,300 to 4,050 lei. He also rejected the idea of an infringement, stating that it is not about an adjustment of the minimum wage. The interim president of the PSD, Sorin Grindeanu, warned that freezing the minimum wage could lead to an infringement, but the government indicated that it is likely the minimum wage will remain at the same level next year, continuing consultations on this matter.
