At the Taxation and Technology Summit, the Minister of Finance, Alexandru Nazare, stated that the hypothesis of increasing VAT is not being considered for the 2026 budget, emphasizing that this budget will need to focus on the absorption of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). Nazare mentioned that discussions about possible tax measures will be held within the coalition. He also addressed the topic of special pensions, mentioning that it is a subject of discussion within the coalition.

The minister acknowledged the economic difficulties facing Romania and understood the dissatisfaction related to the freezing of the minimum wage. He emphasized that there is no barrier for economic operators who wish to raise wages, but noted that many are facing difficulties in this regard. Nazare highlighted the importance of finding a balance between increasing the minimum wage and protecting jobs, considering the economic slowdown. Additionally, he discussed the minimum turnover tax, believing that it could limit the development of companies and emphasized the need to find optimal solutions for the budget.
