Prime Minister-designate Siegfried Mureșan announced Monday, September 21, on RFI that he will submit the list of ministers proposed for the future government by the end of this week. During this period, he is working both on the Cabinet’s composition and on the governing program.
Mureșan said that each candidate for the position of minister should be questioned in Parliament for at least 60 minutes. According to the prime minister-designate, the hearings must assess the future ministers’ ability to answer lawmakers’ questions and to take responsibility for the areas they will oversee.
“They must be able to face them. Ministers must appear before Parliament and account for their actions,” Siegfried Mureșan said.
The submission of the ministers’ list and the governing program will open the parliamentary stage of forming the new Executive. Hearings in the specialist committees are expected to take place before the investiture vote, through which Parliament will decide whether or not to grant confidence to the future government.
