Raluca Turcan, nominated by the PNL for the position of labor minister in the government proposed by designated Prime Minister Siegfried Mureșan, has presented her priorities for the coming period. They include gradually reducing taxes on wages, eliminating the additional taxation of part-time contracts, and indexing pensions to inflation, within the limits of the 2027 budget.
Turcan said Romania needs more people in the workforce and measures to encourage employment. She cited data according to which taxes and contributions can reach 41.5% of an employee’s income without deductions.
For the labor market, the former minister proposes more flexible forms of employment, support for people who take jobs far from home, and programs dedicated to young people and those over 50. She also supports linking social assistance to vocational training and beneficiaries’ return to the labor market.
In the public sector, Turcan advocates fairer pay and ending the combination of a service pension with a salary received from the state. Regarding pensions, she proposes completing the recalculation process and protecting pensioners from the effects of budgetary imbalances.
Her agenda also includes developing services for vulnerable people, expanding home care, facilitating access for people with disabilities to jobs and assistive technologies, as well as tax deductions for young families and continuing the in vitro fertilization program.
