PNL MP Raluca Turcan asked parliamentarians not to refuse dialogue regarding support for a government led by Siegfried Mureșan and stated that it is “mandatory” for the proposal to come to a vote in Parliament.
In a message published on Sunday, Turcan argues that each party and each parliamentarian “must clearly show what kind of Romania they support: a modern and pro-European one or one stuck in old political reflexes.” The statement comes in the context of negotiations to form the Mureșan government.
The Liberal describes Siegfried Mureșan as a politician with European experience, elected three times as an MEP and vice-president of the European People’s Party. Turcan states that he participated in negotiations regarding the European Union’s budget and that his experience could contribute to modernizing Romania and consolidating its pro-European path.
Raluca Turcan compares the European socialists’ willingness to negotiate with Mureșan at the European Union level with the PSD’s refusal to hold talks to support him in Romania. She also argues that a prime minister with international experience could represent the country more effectively in relations with European institutions and the main capitals.
The PNL MP states that Mureșan has a political record “without major scandals or controversies” and urges parliamentarians to carefully consider supporting the proposal before the vote.
