PNL Sibiu chairwoman Raluca Turcan is urging President Nicușor Dan to urgently nominate a candidate for the position of prime minister, arguing that Romania can no longer remain in an interim state after four months. She made the statement in a public message, in which the liberal politician said that the country needs decisions, not political calculations.
Turcan says that the Bolojan Government has achieved results in reforms, the implementation of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), economic stabilization and the restoration of international confidence. She warns, however, that a dismissed government has limited powers, and that prolonging this situation affects the functioning of the state.
According to the liberal politician, Romania needs a budget revision for sectors such as healthcare and transport, preparations for the 2027 budget and the completion of PNRR procedures. Each day of uncertainty could mean more expensive borrowing, declining investor confidence and additional pressure on the country’s credit rating.
Raluca Turcan reiterated that the PNL will not vote for a government that includes the PSD, but supports negotiating a responsible solution, including a technocratic cabinet made up of independent professionals. She believes that the parliamentary majority must be built after the prime minister is nominated.
