PNL MP Raluca Turcan criticized President Nicușor Dan on Saturday, accusing him of having sought to divide the National Liberal Party through the nominations he made for the position of prime minister. The statements were published on her Facebook page amid negotiations to form a new parliamentary majority and government.
Raluca Turcan claims that the president bet on breaking up the PNL without considering a possible split within the PSD. She stated that Sorin Grindeanu allegedly seeks to govern alongside the faction of the PNL close to the PSD and to remove liberal leaders who reject such an arrangement, naming Ilie Bolojan and those who do not want the PSD to return within the PNL.
The liberal MP questioned the nominations of Adrian Veștea and Luca Niculescu, which she says were made “out of conviction,” and argued that, in Siegfried Mureșan’s case, there was no genuine willingness. Turcan also referred to pressure on Sorin Grindeanu and on the designated prime minister.
The reaction came after Sorin Grindeanu announced that the PSD supports rebuilding a stable majority with the PNL and UDMR. Ilie Bolojan, however, rejected a return to a joint governing arrangement with the PSD, arguing that the liberals do not want to repeat political formulas they consider failed.
