PNL deputy Alexandru Muraru criticizes President Nicușor Dan after the head of state declared that he was waiting for the parties to reach a consensus before appointing a new prime minister and forming a parliamentary majority, following the rejection of the Mureșan Government.
Muraru asks the president not to give the liberals “lessons regarding the parties’ consensus” and not to suggest that PNL should accept an appointment that would have “the slightest suspicion of being PSD-like.” The deputy says that the liberals will not support a prime minister proposed by PSD, “puppeteered” technocrats, or other options that they associate with the PSD-AUR alliance.
The Liberal argues that this alliance contributed to the rejection of a government led by a Liberal prime minister and of another Liberal formula. He also rejects the president’s appeal for the parties to return to the voters and end the political crisis, arguing that PNL did not cause the situation.
Muraru says that the party is prepared to face the voters, if necessary, “with dignity and courage.” The statement comes at a time when the president must hold consultations with the parliamentary groups to identify a political solution and appoint a new candidate for the position of prime minister.
