The PSD would have presented to Eugen Tomac, the designated prime minister, a list of economic measures they would like included in the government program, in exchange for support in Parliament, sources cited by Digi24 report. On the other hand, the leader of the social democrats, Sorin Grindeanu, stated that Tomac would have been open to certain conditions.

Among the PSD's demands are the abandonment of austerity, VAT reductions on food and medicines, an increase in the minimum wage, and changes regarding CASS, to eliminate it for mothers, veterans, and people with disabilities.

The social democrats are requesting that the new Government commit to no tax increases and that austerity will be suspended.

Following the discussions, the PSD leader, Sorin Grindeanu, mentioned that Tomac was open to the party's proposals, however, Ionuț Dumitru, honorary advisor to interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, stated on Tuesday at Digi24 that Romania currently does not have budgetary space for tax and fee reductions.

Thus, the economist warns that Romania does not have budgetary space for tax reductions, having a deficit of 6.2% of GDP.

Tomac continues negotiations on Tuesday with the parties to gain the necessary parliamentary support, however, the leader of UDMR, Kelemen Hunor, stated that he cannot promise that he will support him in Parliament.

Despite the fact that on Monday, after the conclusion of the first day of consultations with parliamentary parties, Tomac appeared confident, neither PNL nor USR had messages of support.

A potential vote of investiture for Tomac's cabinet is expected on Monday.
