USR announces that it is open to negotiating with PSD for the Mureșan Government

USR Senate leader Sorin Șipoș announced Monday, at Parliament, that the party is softening its position in the negotiations to form the government led by Siegfried Mureșan and is willing to discuss the matter with PSD as well in order to secure the votes needed for its investiture.

The governing program is expected to be finalized on Tuesday, and USR hopes the new Executive will be approved at the beginning of next week. Șipoș said that negotiations to support the government will be conducted by Siegfried Mureșan and that PSD must decide whether to support a cabinet backed by pro-European parties.

USR is also open to a formula for sharing the governing period with PSD, through a possible rotation. Șipoș justified the change by citing the need to overcome the political crisis and ensure continuity for ministers already in office.

According to the senator, the program will not include tax increases. Budgetary balancing is expected to be achieved through cuts in state spending, reform of public companies, and measures in the Justice system. USR hopes that lawmakers will consider both the program and the risk of early elections.
