USR President Dominic Fritz announced at the press conference in Parliament that USR and PNL will negotiate, including with PSD, to support a government led by MEP Siegfried Mureșan. USR supports his nomination and aims to form a serious Executive with a clear vision for Romania.
Fritz stated that Siegfried Mureșan is the right person to lead a government that would offer the country a better future and specified that USR would work with him to define the government program. The party is set to discuss with PSD in order to identify the conditions under which the Social Democrats might support the new Executive.
The USR leader said that Romania is going through a period marked by political deadlock, high inflation, and social tensions, intensified by hate speech, which he says is undermining trust in democracy. In this context, Fritz supports a united government, even a minority one, based on trust in Romanians and the private sector.
The vision presented by USR emphasizes creating prosperity through private initiative, rather than through benefits granted by the state, as well as rebuilding communities affected by the polarization of society.
