Sources: Bolojan and Fritz will be deputy prime ministers in the Mureșan Government

Designated Prime Minister Siegfried Mureșan is meeting with UDMR leaders on Wednesday to negotiate the governing program and support for the new Cabinet, given that the PNL, USR, and UDMR votes alone do not ensure a parliamentary majority. The discussions are taking place in parallel with negotiations regarding the structure of the future Government.

UDMR has reaffirmed its support for the PNL proposal after the party’s leader, Kelemen Hunor, initially stated that Mureșan might face difficulties in obtaining a majority. Kelemen Hunor later specified that the party would see the process through and assume responsibility for voting in favor of the proposed cabinet.

According to Digi24 sources, the scenario under discussion provides for three deputy prime ministers: Kelemen Hunor, Dominic Fritz, and Ilie Bolojan. The allocation of ministerial portfolios is expected to be negotiated after the governing program has been clarified. Mureșan spoke on Tuesday with PNL lawmakers and subsequently with USR lawmakers, whom he thanked for their support. PSD does not appear willing to vote for the new Government, with Sorin Grindeanu assessing the chances as “close to zero.”
