Siegfried Mureșan discusses the governing program and the investiture vote with the UDMR

Designated Prime Minister Siegfried Mureșan is meeting with the UDMR parliamentary groups on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. to discuss the priorities of the governing program and the timetable for the investiture procedure of the future government. The negotiations are taking place as the party led by Kelemen Hunor warns that the parties remaining from the former coalition currently do not have the 233 votes needed to approve the government.

Mureșan announced that the talks would address the governing program, the submission of the program and the list of ministers, the candidates’ hearings, and the final vote in Parliament. The designated prime minister is also scheduled to meet with PNL and USR lawmakers on Tuesday.

The UDMR is expected to review proposals concerning taxation, the budget, investment, the economic program, and measures for vulnerable people. Kelemen Hunor said that if the necessary majority does not take shape, the party could recommend that Mureșan resign his mandate rather than have the government face a vote with no chance of success.

If the designated prime minister decides to proceed to the investiture vote, the UDMR will have to decide whether to support him. The consultations between the parties are therefore essential for establishing parliamentary support and the next political steps.
