Siegfried Mureșan says he has approximately 200 votes for the investiture of the Government

Prime Minister-designate Siegfried Mureșan says he has approximately 200 confirmed votes for the Government’s investiture, but needs at least 233 votes at the session scheduled for Wednesday, after the PSD and AUR announced they would not support the Executive.

Mureșan said Monday evening on TVR that PNL, USR and UDMR lawmakers, numbering approximately 170 in total, would vote in favor of the Government. He said negotiations with the parliamentary group representing national minorities had been “good,” and that its representatives would announce their decision before the plenary vote.

The prime minister-designate is also holding talks with unaffiliated lawmakers and smaller parliamentary groups, from which he hopes to secure additional votes. According to him, several dozen votes are still needed to reach the threshold required for the Government’s investiture.

On Monday, September 28, Mureșan announced that he had contacted PSD President Sorin Grindeanu again. He sent him a document arguing that the governing program includes several of the Social Democrats’ demands. However, PSD and AUR have announced that they will not vote for the proposed Government.
