PSD Olt rejects the information according to which Senator Paul Stănescu is expected to move to AUR or is allegedly being subjected to pressure to obtain a public position. The branch's reaction was conveyed on Saturday, on Facebook, amid rumors regarding a possible political change involving the Social Democrat leader.
The county organization publicly supports Paul Stănescu and states that he played an important role in strengthening PSD Olt and the Social Democratic Party. The branch describes him as a man of dialogue and balance, with political experience and the ability to build consensus.
“Anyone who does not have a Paul Stănescu in their party should look for one. We have the original!”, PSD Olt stated. The organization's representatives added that changes in positions do not automatically imply changes in political convictions, and that rumors cannot replace facts.
The reaction comes after reports that AUR intended to offer Paul Stănescu the position of secretary-general. PSD Olt maintains, however, that the senator's relationship with the party cannot be defined through speculation and that he continues to enjoy the organization's respect. AUR denies that it tried to recruit Stănescu into the party.
