The general secretary of the PSD, Claudiu Manda, stated that the social democrats have the necessary votes to form a minority government, during a meeting of the party leadership in Sinaia. Manda emphasized that, in the event that the prime minister comes from the PSD, it should be Sorin Grindeanu.
Although the PSD does not have a majority in Parliament, Manda suggests that the party could gain support from outside its own ranks, without specifying the sources of this support. The meeting takes place before the opening of the autumn parliamentary session and focuses on establishing a strategy for forming a new majority, after the dismissal of the Bolojan Government through a motion of censure.
President Nicușor Dan will summon the parties to Cotroceni for discussions regarding the appointment of the prime minister and the formation of the new Executive.
