Oana Gheorghiu accuses PSD of blocking the government for four months and seeking full powers to stop Ilie Bolojan’s reforms

Interim Deputy Prime Minister Oana Gheorghiu accused the PSD on Saturday of limiting the government’s ability to intervene in Romania’s urgent problems for four months, although the Social Democrats now argue that the country needs a government with full powers.

In a message posted on Facebook, the leader of PNL Sector 4 said the PSD’s change in attitude came after interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan began promoting reforms such as reorganizing the administration, merging institutions and eliminating privileges.

Gheorghiu said the PSD had not challenged the tax increases intended to cover the budget deficit and accused the party of allegedly trying to remove Bolojan with the support of some PNL members. She rejected the idea of a new government formed by the PSD, saying it would worsen the country’s economic and administrative situation.

The interim deputy prime minister held the Social Democrats responsible for the current political crisis and said Romania needs a government concerned with citizens and reforms, not privileges, positions and lavish spending.
