Siegfried Mureșan, the PNL-USR-UDMR proposal for the position of prime minister, stated that there is nothing to negotiate regarding the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), in the context of threats from PSD regarding the voting of the necessary laws for obtaining European funds.
Mureșan emphasized that the choice lies with PSD, warning that the refusal to support the reforms will lead to the loss of 4.5 billion euros for Romania. He also criticized PSD, stating that the party is in free fall due to a lack of solutions for the country's problems. Mureșan reaffirmed that PNL will not return to a coalition with PSD, considering the subject closed, and highlighted that PNL, along with USR and UDMR, has demonstrated that it has viable solutions for governance.
In a subsequent message, he explained why PNL does not trust PSD, mentioning that the social democrats have not respected previous political commitments and have not ensured the continuity of the necessary reforms to attract funds from the PNRR. Mureșan concluded that a government formed by PNL, USR, and UDMR is the only guarantee for the successful completion of the PNRR.
