PSD leader Sorin Grindeanu announced on Monday evening that the party will not vote for the government that designated prime minister Siegfried Mureșan is set to propose to Parliament. The decision comes after the PSD National Permanent Bureau recommended rejecting the government formula, with the final decision to be made by the National Political Council.
Grindeanu criticized the economic direction of the government led by Ilie Bolojan, citing rising inflation, declining consumption, increasing unemployment, the loss of jobs, and reduced investment. He argued that Mureșan had announced the continuation of the same policy, which is why PSD will not support him.
The Social Democratic leader stated that the designated prime minister had not contacted him for negotiations and that, if he wanted PSD’s votes, he should have spoken directly with him.
Grindeanu estimated that Mureșan would obtain fewer votes in Parliament than Adrian Veștea and said that President Nicușor Dan could make a new nomination or call snap elections.
