Sorin Grindeanu, the leader of PSD, stated that his party does not wish for the future leaders of SRI and SIE to turn these institutions into appendages of the parties or NGOs.

In an interview with Digi24, Grindeanu emphasized the importance of institutional loyalty and integrity for the proposed individuals. He mentioned that PSD has not yet made proposals to President Nicușor Dan for these positions and insisted that it is essential for future leaders to already have a good understanding of the architecture of the Romanian state.

Additionally, President Nicușor Dan announced that discussions regarding the appointments are suspended in the context of other matters of public interest, without providing a clear deadline for proposals.

Grindeanu reaffirmed that PSD is looking for competent people, not necessarily party members, to ensure effective leadership of the secret services.
