The president of the PSD, Sorin Grindeanu, stated that the social democrats had the simpler option of remaining in opposition, but they decided to participate in the government.

He emphasized that, although the PSD is part of the governing coalition, not all decisions made have been the best. Grindeanu warned that maintaining stability just for the sake of it can bring more harm to the entire political context. The PSD leader highlighted the importance of continuously evaluating governmental decisions to avoid potential long-term negative effects.

"We will not form an alliance with parties that are not pro-European. (...) It would have been politically simpler for us to remain in a form of opposition through which we would certainly increase our voting intentions. No, we preferred to go there (to the Government - ed.). This does not mean that the decisions in the coalition, in the Government, of which the PSD is also a part, have always been the best. I do not shy away from responsibility and the PSD does not shy away from responsibility, but I can give you examples where I said that things should be done differently. They were not done or were done with delays and then we reach this moment where, economically, things do not look very good," stated Sorin Grindeanu.
