Sorin Grindeanu, after consultations with Nicușor Dan: We are entitled to lead the Government and take over governance

PSD leader Sorin Grindeanu said Thursday, after the consultations at Cotroceni Palace, that he had told President Nicușor Dan that the Social Democrats were ready to take over the government.

“Whenever PSD has been in government, when it formed or led a government, it brought economic growth, so that Romanians could live better; we had no setbacks. From the perspective of the right-wing parties, whenever they governed, they led Romania into economic decline and a more difficult life. We are ready to take over the government. We want to lead the Romanian government; we are entitled to do so, as we are the largest parliamentary group in Parliament. We are in a difficult situation; Romania needs coherent governance. The fact that we have reached this situation is due to the poor way in which Ilie Bolojan led the Government of Romania over the past year. That is why we decided in the spring to leave the governing coalition. The direction was a bad one. The direction must be corrected. We are ready to lead the Government of Romania,” Sorin Grindeanu said.

In fact, PSD had previously officially proposed Sorin Grindeanu as prime minister, ruling out an alliance with AUR.

Sorin Grindeanu attended the consultations accompanied by MEP Claudiu Manda, the mayor of Galați Municipality, Ionuț Pucheanu, and MPs Bogdan Ivan, Silvia Mihalcea, and Diana Tușa.
