PSD leader Sorin Grindeanu announced on Facebook that the party is ready to take responsibility for Romania’s recovery, shortly after the Government proposed by Siegfried Mureșan was rejected by Parliament. Grindeanu argued that Romania urgently needs a fully empowered Executive that will change the current direction.
“Romania urgently needs a Government with full powers to change the wrong direction! We are ready to take responsibility for Romania’s recovery,” the PSD leader said on Facebook.
The Mureșan Cabinet received 182 votes in favor, well below the threshold of 233 votes required for investiture. PSD lawmakers were present in the chamber to ensure a quorum, but announced that they would not participate in the vote, the message conveyed from the benches being “present, not voting.”
During the debates, AUR and PSD leaders George Simion and Sorin Grindeanu left the chamber.
