Cristian Tudor Popescu stated that the motion of censure submitted by PSD and AUR against the Bolojan Government is an action that serves the interests of the Kremlin, having the potential to lead Romania into chaos. He emphasized that this gesture could affect Romania's position in the European Union and criticized the PSD leadership for the lack of communication within the party.

CTP explained that, in order to reach early elections, two government collapses are necessary, which makes such an option unlikely in the near future. He also mentioned that the motion has considerable chances of passing, having the support of several opposition political formations. In the current context, CTP stated that President Nicușor Dan does not have the capacity to influence the political situation and that Romania is heading towards a period of uncertainty. PSD and AUR are working on the technical details of the motion, having 231 votes in Parliament, one vote less than necessary to dismiss the government.

"We are witnessing a coup d'état triggered during the consultations at Cotroceni – the so-called consultations – without the announcement of almost anyone. Not even from PSD. We saw the first vice-president of PSD, who appeared today and said that he found out from television and that the BPL, the Permanent Bureau of the party, was not convened, but that he trusts the party and state leadership.

Mr. Nicușor Dan received this directly in the face and his expression turned into that of 'Popa Prostu' at this moment.

"What PSD and AUR have done now is to the extreme liking of the Kremlin. The champagne bottles are being uncorked (...) What could they have hoped for better regarding Romania, better for Putin, than this? What is Russia's objective regarding Romania? To push the country into disarray, into chaos. They are not interested in supporting one party or another after all. Any party that pushes the country into chaos is good, at this moment, under these conditions of this terrible tension," said the journalist.
