The Mayor of the Capital, Ciprian Ciucu, proposed a tax increase on income between the municipality and the sectors, similar to that of previous years, which sparked criticism from USR deputy, Cătălin Drulă. He stated that the decision of the General Council reflects an understanding between PNL and PSD, which has led to an inefficient budget for Bucharest. Drulă argues that there was a right-wing majority that could have voted for a correct budget, but it was replaced by this alliance.
In response, Ciucu stated that CGMB applied the State Budget Law for 2026 and explained that PMB will receive 53% of the budget, which he considers to be a correct percentage. He emphasized that the funds are almost sufficient to cover the budgetary gap and promised transparency in the budgeting process. Drulă, on the other hand, accused Ciucu of misinformation and that the allocated funds are insufficient, highlighting that the 14% mentioned by the mayor are, in fact, a solidarity fund. This conflict underscores the political tensions in Bucharest and the challenges in managing the city's budget.
