The general mayor of the Capital, Ciprian Ciucu, stated Thursday evening on B1 TV that Bucharest City Hall had lost approximately 80% of the funds allocated through the NRRP before he took office. To finance the projects, Ciucu mentioned discussions with the World Bank, the European Investment Bank, and other international financial institutions.

Ciucu said that Bucharest does not look like a European capital and that the city has not benefited from serious works „for a very, very long time”. The mayor argued that the municipality needs investments in infrastructure and that the works started this year should gradually improve the city's appearance and functioning.

The general mayor also said that the construction sites in Drumul Taberei are now systematized and well organized, but he specified that he does not want a repeat of the lengthy periods of works in the area. Some projects have an execution deadline of one year, while interventions on the sewage, gas, and electricity networks can take up to two years.

He specified that any loans would be used for infrastructure, not surface works, and concluded that the main problem is the mobilization of contractors.
