Constantin Toma, the PSD mayor of Buzău, stated on Digi24 that the leaders from Bucharest will exert pressure for a government alongside AUR, but which "will lead to many problems for each of us".
"They can convince just as it was done now, so they went to each region to convince as many people as possible that it is the best solution to bring Bolojan down, it will be done like this now. Do you believe that the party base is taken into account? In no case. Because very, very many people, incredibly many, considering my position, to officially tell them, call me or even come to Buzău, I am talking about people from the country, from PSD, who say let’s do something against this leadership, because they are leading the party in a very wrong direction," said Constantin Toma.
The PSD-AUR motion, "a mistake"
According to him, the PSD alliance with AUR for submitting a motion of censure against the Bolojan Government will represent a major defeat for the party.
"PSD will sign its own dissolution or reach below 10% because what is happening at this moment is not at all normal," said the social democrat. He emphasizes that the motion with AUR "is a big mistake for PSD, it is a big problem for PSD, because it will melt into AUR".
Toma emphasized that he learned about this agreement from the press and warned that the decisions of the PSD leaders from Bucharest could lead to a drastic decrease in the party's popularity.
Constantin Toma again calls for Sorin Grindeanu's resignation from the PSD leadership
He called for Sorin Grindeanu's resignation, stating that the current leadership of PSD is leading the party in a wrong direction and that collaboration with pro-democracy forces is necessary to save the country.
"It is a great nonsense, for Sorin Grindeanu to resign and for PSD to go together with pro-democracy, pro-Europe forces, to go to save this country, because what Ilie Bolojan started together with the members of the Government, PSD members, has done a good job, even if we do not agree. But after a lot of money and many opportunities have been wasted, the payment deadline has come, in the sense that we need to take these certainly unpopular measures, but they are the only ones that save us," he added.
Toma criticized the way the motion was decided, mentioning that not all party members were consulted, but only those in leadership positions. He concluded that such collaboration will create problems for all citizens.
Toma called for Grindeanu's resignation last week, after the social-democratic formation withdrew support for Prime Minister Bolojan.
