General Mayor of Bucharest Ciprian Ciucu said on Saturday that he cannot estimate whether the Government proposed by designated Prime Minister Siegfried Mureșan will win Parliament’s vote of confidence, given the current political configuration. However, he praised the PNL for fulfilling its responsibilities in the process of forming the government and said the list of ministers was “very, very good.”
Ciucu explained that the liberals had drafted a governing program and nominated the proposed ministers, with the support of USR and UDMR. Asked repeatedly about the Mureșan Government’s chances, the capital’s mayor said it was impossible for him to make an assessment.
He also referred to messages from the international community regarding Romania’s need to have a stable government. According to Ciucu, the new Executive should address this need through a strong team and a well-developed governing program.
Designated Prime Minister Siegfried Mureșan submitted the governing program and the list of ministers to Parliament on Saturday morning. Hearings in the parliamentary committees and the investiture vote are scheduled for the beginning of next week.
