PNL deputy Alina Gorghiu announced on Wednesday that she will vote in Parliament for the Mureșan Cabinet and will also support the next government formula if the current proposal fails to secure the necessary support. She said Romania urgently needs a stable, pro-European government with full powers, capable of managing the crisis and unlocking investments.
Gorghiu specified that her position does not represent a “blank check” and does not mean she is abandoning her criticism of the mistakes and political conflicts of recent months. The deputy said she voted, or would have voted, for the government formulas led by Tomac and Veștea as well, believing that PNL must remain in government and take responsibility for leading the country.
The liberal acknowledged that the Mureșan Government is facing difficulties in securing the 233 votes needed in Parliament, given the current political arithmetic. She indicated that support from the PSD or a broad parliamentary majority is essential for the government to be invested.
Alina Gorghiu rejected the idea that snap elections would be a miraculous solution, arguing that they would prolong uncertainty and the crisis. She cited delays concerning the budget revision, investments and community projects, and said she would vote for stability and for reducing the costs borne by the population.
