PNL lawmaker Alina Gorghiu said Thursday that, at this point, she does not see the 233 votes needed in Parliament to approve the Government led by Siegfried Mureșan, who was nominated prime minister by President Nicușor Dan.

Gorghiu said that Mureșan’s nomination transfers responsibility to the prime minister-designate, who must begin negotiations with parliamentary parties and with deputies and senators to form a majority.

“This nomination does not automatically mean that the government will also be approved,” the PNL lawmaker explained. According to her, Mureșan must prepare the governing program, propose a government team and secure the necessary parliamentary support.

Alina Gorghiu stressed that the prime minister-designate must act quickly, as there is currently no guarantee that the future Government will receive a vote of confidence. “I still do not see a government whose approval is guaranteed,” she said in a Facebook post.

Siegfried Mureșan’s task now is to negotiate political support for his cabinet before presenting the program and the list of ministers to Parliament.
