Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare has announced that Romania will introduce a tax of 25 lei for each extra-EU parcel up to 150 euro, in response to the dramatic increase in the number of parcels. This measure aims to protect Romanian entrepreneurs, who are affected by the influx of products from outside the European Union. The tax will be implemented in cooperation with courier companies and is estimated to generate around 1.3 billion lei for the state budget.
