The European Commission reports that TikTok and the American company Meta, which owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, have violated the obligation to provide researchers with adequate access to public data under the Digital Services Act (DSA).

These platforms would use deceptive design techniques that can create confusion and discourage users from completing the reporting process.

The company Meta rejects the European Commission's accusations. TikTok stated that the social network has invested significantly in data sharing and that nearly 1,000 research teams have had access to information.
