Microsoft has confirmed the launch of the MAI Superintelligence Team project, which will mark a new direction in artificial intelligence research, with the primary objective of AI-assisted medical diagnosis. Led by Mustafa Suleyman, co-founder of DeepMind, the team promises rapid progress in developing AI models capable of surpassing human performance in complex tasks. Suleyman stated that he expects a medical superintelligence in the next two to three years, which could improve life expectancy by early identification of preventable diseases. Microsoft will invest significantly in this project, in the context of competition with other tech companies. Unlike its rivals, Microsoft focuses on a "humanistic" artificial intelligence that serves human interests, rather than autonomous systems. The new team will address various fields, including energy storage and the discovery of new molecules, aiming for research oriented towards concrete results and direct benefits for society.
