Apple is considering a significant change in its strategy for launching iPhones, delaying the debut of the standard iPhone 18, while the Pro and Pro Max models are expected to be launched as planned in the fall of 2026. This would mark a departure from Apple's tradition of launching the entire range of flagships simultaneously. The main reason for this decision would be an increasing shortage and rising costs for memory chips and other essential components. Prioritizing premium models, which generate higher margins, helps Apple optimize revenue and production efficiency. Additionally, the delays could reduce pressure on the supply chain, in the context of the current complexities of the hardware cycle. Complications are amplified by expectations related to the first foldable iPhone, which requires advanced production techniques and new materials, increasing the risks of delays or quality issues. Although the delays for the standard model could be minimal, with a projected launch in the first half of 2027, this change could indicate a new hardware strategy for Apple, in which premium models become a priority.
