For next year, when the iPhone turns 20, Apple plans a special model, largely made of glass, which will cover both the front and the back of the device. However, analysts at Jefferies have downgraded Apple’s stock rating, mentioning rumors suggesting that the anniversary model could be canceled due to low production yield.
Jefferies cites sources among component manufacturers who confirm these fears. In contrast, Bloomberg reported that production is on track and that the glass will be curved at the edges. It is also acknowledged that Apple tested a more ambitious variant but abandoned it due to connectivity issues between the front and back panels. Until the launch of the anniversary model, Apple will introduce its first foldable smartphone this fall.
