Tim Cook, the resigning CEO of Apple, announced in an interview with The Wall Street Journal that price increases for Apple products are inevitable, considering that the situation regarding memory chips has become unsustainable.

Although Cook did not specify when these increases will take place or which products will be affected, uncertainty looms over the iPhone 18, expected to be launched in September. Memory chips, essential for smart devices, have seen a rise in prices due to increased demand generated by the explosion of artificial intelligence. Cook mentioned that Apple is doing everything possible to mitigate the impact of these increases on customers, but emphasized that the current situation is unsustainable. He highlighted the pressure in the chip industry, where low supply is facing high demand.

Cook will be succeeded by John Ternus as CEO in September, after 15 years in this position.
