The excavations near the village of Willersey were started after the discovery of two Roman swords by a keen metal detectorist. These swords led to the identification of Iron Age and Roman remains, including circular ditches and the ruins of a Roman villa. Archaeologists believe the finds offer important insights into the organization of Gloucestershire settlements. The swords will be on display at the Corinium Museum from August 2.
