US consumer prices rose moderately by 0.1% in May, below analysts' estimates of 0.2%. Annual inflation came in at 2.4% and core inflation rose 2.8%. These data suggest that inflation remains above the Federal Reserve's 2% target, making an interest rate cut unlikely. Analysts expect the Fed to hold interest rates at 4.25%-4.50%. The reduction in data collected by the BLS has raised concerns about volatility.
