The United Arab Emirates and Qatar are pressuring their allies to convince the Trump administration to find a diplomatic solution that would limit U.S. military operations against Iran, according to Bloomberg.
The two countries also want to form a coalition to prevent the escalation of the conflict and the negative impact on energy prices. Qatar halted liquefied natural gas production after an Iranian drone attack, which led to a significant increase in gas prices in Europe. Additionally, both countries are rapidly enhancing their air defense capabilities, seeking assistance from allies. In recent days, leaders from the Emirates and Qatar have held discussions with European leaders to seek solutions.
In the past, the Gulf monarchies promoted a vision of a post-sanctions Iran, but now they face a more complex reality, where alliances and security interests are in competition.
