The United Arab Emirates was the target of a missile attack from Iran on Sunday morning, according to the announcement from the Ministry of Defense. At the same time, authorities in Bahrain activated air raid sirens, and AFP journalists in Qatar reported explosions heard in Doha. These attacks came in response to American airstrikes carried out on the night from Saturday to Sunday, after Iranian forces fired upon a ship in the Strait of Hormuz.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Navy stated that it had closed the Strait of Hormuz, firing warning shots at a ship with an "unauthorized route." The U.S. Central Command confirmed that its forces had begun a third round of attacks against Iran, after the container ship GFS Galaxy was hit, suffering significant damage. One crew member is reported missing, and the ship's crew was forced to abandon the affected vessel.
