American President Donald Trump stated at a press conference that he will maintain the tariffs in effect, despite the Supreme Court's ruling that a significant portion of them is illegal. Trump claimed that he does not need Congress's approval to act and that all national security tariffs will remain in effect. He also announced the intention to sign an executive order to impose a new global tax of 10%, which will be added to the existing tariffs.

Additionally, the administration will initiate further investigations to protect the American economy from unfair trade practices. These statements were made a year after the Supreme Court decided that a large part of the tariffs announced in April 2025 is illegal.
