The President of the USA, Donald Trump, announced that he has abandoned the Thursday deadline for Ukraine to accept a peace plan supported by the USA. In a statement made on Air Force One, Trump emphasized that American negotiators are making progress in discussions with Russia and Ukraine, without providing specific details. He also mentioned that Moscow has accepted some concessions. Trump confirmed that his envoy, Steve Witkoff, will travel to Moscow to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, also involving his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, in the negotiations.
Although Trump initially set Thanksgiving Day (November 27) as the deadline, he stated that the deadline is now flexible, wanting an agreement as soon as possible. Additionally, Trump acknowledged that Russia seems to have the advantage in the conflict and suggested that Ukraine should reach an agreement, considering that part of the territory could be conquered by Russia in the near future. Security guarantees for Ukraine are currently being negotiated with the Europeans.
