On Saturday, thousands of protesters across France took to the streets to express their outrage at the persistent violence against women and to demand a stronger public commitment, including a budget of 3 billion euros to combat this scourge. In Paris, organizers estimated the attendance at 50,000 people, while in other cities like Bordeaux and Lille, a few hundred participants were recorded. The protesters called for the adoption of a framework law against violence, sessions of emotional education in schools, and better funding for associations that support victims. Although the Minister for Equality between Women and Men announced a forthcoming law, associations expressed skepticism about the government's promises, emphasizing that current policies are not being implemented effectively. According to official data, the number of femicides has increased by 11% in the last year, and statistics show an alarming frequency of sexual violence. The Women's Foundation estimated that the state should allocate 2.6 billion euros annually for the protection of victims of gender-based violence.
