Dmitri Peskov, the spokesperson for the Kremlin, stated that there is no need for a meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin. He mentioned that, although a meeting could be possible in the future, it is not necessary at present, emphasizing the importance of details in peace negotiations. Trump previously announced that he does not want a "wasted meeting" with Putin due to Moscow's refusal to stop the fighting. He has also imposed sanctions on the Russian oil companies Rosneft and Lukoil. Despite discussions about a possible peace agreement, Russia continues to reject compromises, insisting on maximalist demands, including the surrender of the entire Donetsk region by Ukraine. Trump stated that he will not meet with Putin unless there is a clear path to a peace agreement.
